It is a pioneer organization working in the field of Deaf and speech impairment. Gyanendra Purohit its founder had a Deaf and speech impaired brother Anand who died in a train accident which inspired Gyanendra and his wife to work in the field of Deaf and speech impaired community. 

Society’s founder Couple Gyanendra and Monica Purohit composed National Anthem in sign language and the same was recognized by thy then Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji in the year 2003 from Govt of India. Around 70 lakhs Deaf and speech impaired population of India got the right to sing National Anthem and Vande Matram in their own sign language. 

The Founder Couple also initiated for India’s first Deaf and speech impaired friendly Police Station at Tukoganj Police Station Indore with MP Police where Deaf and speech impaired people can lodge complaint in sign language. With this initiative more than 10000 Deaf and speech impaired persons has got justice. A famous case of Rajasthan of a Deaf girl committing suicide was rescued by this couple through online video call. 

It is due to the efforts and mechanism developed by this couple almost 90 Deaf and speech impaired children got reunited with their families. The highlighted case of Geeta a Deaf and speech impaired girl came from Pakistan is residing with this couple in their Deaf disabled institute. For Geeta’s rehabilitation this couple is trying to find her parents for reunion with her parents and also the couple is trying for her to become self dependent (Aatm Nirbhar Dream of PM Modi ji ) through CBR method. This couple also helped in the rehabilitation of Deaf and speech impaired girl’s victim of Rape and molestation by education, vocational training, employment and their marriages in sign language.

Anand Service Society and its founder couple rescued more than 500 Deaf Disabled person’s stucked during the lock down period due to corona at different parts of the country. Only after this couples intervention Govt of India came into the action with them and wrote letter to 22 states disabled commissioners. And at last with this couples efforts all Deaf blind persons got rescued and reached their home safely .This couple also manage to get ration for disabled persons at different parts of the country during the corona pandemic

In the year 2005 teachers’ eligibility exam 4 Deaf and speech impaired people got pass through this couples coaching. But education department denied giving them job. After approaching many lawyers and getting disappointed due to this injustice made, Gyanendra Purohit pursued law and became an advocate. Gyanendra after becoming advocate took up this case in the High court with the plea to give access to 15000 Deaf children studying in normal school. The couple won this case in the High court and the High court gave order to state govt to give reservation to Deaf category on the teacher post and hence the Deaf and speech impaired community got the reservation.

This couple also took up the fight of getting admission of Deaf people in Govt ITI colleges under reservation quota. The couple began fighting in the year 2008 for getting admission of Deaf persons in Govt ITI College. With the help of activism and media couple succeeded to get admission of 35 Deaf and speech impaired students in normal Govt ITI College Indore. Since then they strove for getting the Deaf admission, sign language interpreter for Deaf and speech impaired in normal ITI colleges. At last in 2015 with lot of activism and filing a case in human rights commission this couple got succeeded in getting open admission to Deaf and speech impaired in Govt ITI College. In the year 2016 Govt announced admission of 419 seats for Deaf and 108 seats for blind. 

It was due to the efforts of this couple the Deaf and speech impaired children started getting admission in Government regular school. Initially there was resistance to give admission but later with continuous advocacy and intervention the Deaf got enrolled. It is when a Deaf student stood 1st in normal children class this concept was accepted and now around 25000 Deaf and speech impaired children are enrolled in normal regular schools of MP. 

All these efforts have been done selflessly by the couple.  

Achievements 

1 Composition of National Anthem and National Song in sign language and its recognition from the Govt of India through thy then Prime Minister Atal Bihari ji Vajpayee ji 

2 Opening of India’s first Deaf and speech impaired friendly Police Station in Tukoganj Police station Indore where Deaf and speech impaired people can lodge their complaint in sign language. 

3 Fought for reservation of Deaf and speech impaired on teacher post and got success and now there will be employment of Deaf and speech impaired in thousands

4 Rescued more than 500 Deaf disabled persons nationwide in lock down period due to corona pandemic through video call helpline in sign language and by launching helpline nationally voluntarily

5 Saving lives from committing suicide. The most famous case is that of rescuing a deaf girl from committing suicide by online video call counseling for 14 hours. All leading newspaper published about it 

6 Reunited many deaf and mentally challenged persons with their family. Right now striving for the rehabilitation of Geeta the Deaf and speech impaired girl came from Pakistan 

7 Fought for Deaf and speech impaired students to get admission in Govt ITI College and succeeded to get 419 seats to Deaf and speech impaired category in Madhya Pradesh

8 Got success in getting admission of Deaf and speech impaired students in Govt and private normal regular schools in all over Madhya Pradesh and was widely appreciated by the Commissioner of Social Justice Madhya Pradesh

1 The Society and its founder Couple is honored by Rashtriya Swayam Siddh Samman by Jindal Steel Foundation on 14 January 2016 for the unique initiative to identify, to reward and recognize grassroots leaders and innovators for their exemplary courage, commitment and confidence 

2 Anand Service Society incredible initiatives has been selected to be part of the National Report on Documentation and Compilation of the best practices of Sustainable Development as propounded by Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhaya, by Ministry of Culture, Government of India. The Book was unveiled by Honorable Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu ji at Sardar vallabh bhai Patel Conference hall 12 Feb 2020 

3 Society’s Director Monica Gyanendra Purohit is been honored by President of India at President House on 22nd January 2016 recently as 100 women achiever of India. 

4 Rotary Nation Builder award 2017 for excellent service for Deaf and speech impaired children and women.

Contribution to the field 

Anand Service Society strived for mainstreaming of Deaf children with their admission in normal schools and so far more than 25000 Deaf children are been integrated especially in tribal areas. Through Anand Society initiatives strived for getting admission in the Govt ITI colleges of MP but due to Deafness there admission use to be denied. After a long advocacy, continuous follow up the admission of deaf persons started in Govt ITI colleges of MP. After lot of activism, advocacy couple got success in getting reservation to Deaf persons on teacher post. Now the Deaf persons will be employed as teacher in thousands. Couple also strove for all types of disabled to get Government employment by coaching and career counseling. Both also sensitized the private sector to provide jobs to Deaf. Couple made helped the many disabled persons for business startups and consequently became self dependent. With couples efforts India’s 1st deaf friendly police Station got started on 7th September 2002 at Tukoganj Police station Indore where the Deaf persons can register their complaint in sign language. So far more than 10000 complaints are been attended resulted in justice. This couple trained Narmada Jhabua Gramin Bank employees in sign language and made this Bank India’s 1st Deaf friendly Bank of India where 1000 accounts of Deaf persons were opened. To stop fake people taking advantage of disabled certificate this couple advocated for BERA testing compulsory in Govt Job and consequently genuine Deaf persons started getting job.

Contribution to the society 

The family, neighborhood of a Deaf child faces lot of difficulties in the rehabilitation. Due to the mainstreaming efforts the Deaf persons are becoming productive in terms of services. The couple composed National anthem sign language version and got the recognition from Thy then PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji in order to ensure 78 lakhs Deaf population of India participation in the National Anthem in consensus with the normal society to get them feel of equality. The participation in electoral process, providing leadership is yet another contribution to the society. In order to give feeling of becoming a leader. The couple helped Sudeep Shukla a Deaf person to contest election from Satna MP for MLA in 2018. It was a great experience when a Deaf as a politician contested the election and delivered the speech with the help of this couple and the public was sensitized .Many Deaf persons went for political campaign. For the first time during the Lok Sabha elections the multiple disabled category of DeafBlind participated with the help of tactile signing. For the first time movies Sholey, Munna Bhai MBBS, Taare Zamin Par and Gandhi Movie were translated in sign language by the couple in the year around 2005 for the entertainment of Deaf. The couple is striving for the constitutional recognition of Indian sign language .With the couple and Deaf society support Govt of India has established ISLRTC academy for sign language and the Indian sign language is included in the National Education Policy.
